Who we are
This website is run by the Okeoghene Samuel Eterigho Sickle Cell Awareness Foundation, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC No. 160762), of 7A Adesuwa Bello Street, Off Esther Close, Oluti, Amuwo Odofin LGA, Lagos State, Nigeria. We are responsible for the personal information you share with us through this website.
We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and only collect what we need.
What we collect
- When you donate: your name (optional), email address and the amount you give. Payments are processed by Paystack. We never see or store your card or bank details.
- When you sign up for our newsletter: your first name (optional) and email address, and a record that you agreed to receive updates.
- When you contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email: the details you choose to share, such as your name, number and message.
We do not ask for health information through this website. The genotype checker runs entirely in your browser, and the genotypes you pick are not sent to us or stored anywhere.
How we use it
- To process your donation and send you a receipt
- To thank you and, if you agreed, send you news about our work
- To reply to your questions, volunteering offers or partnership requests
- To keep accurate financial records, as the law requires
We rely on your consent for newsletters, and on our legitimate interest and legal duties for processing donations and keeping records. We will never sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with trusted services that help us run the foundation:
- Paystack, to process donations securely
- Our email newsletter provider, to send updates to subscribers
- Authorities, only if the law requires us to
How long we keep it
We keep donation records for as long as Nigerian tax and accounting rules require. We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe. We delete messages and contact details when they are no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
- Stop sending you newsletters (every email also has an unsubscribe link)
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and the Paystack payment window may set cookies needed to process your payment securely.
Children
Our website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through it. At school outreaches, any information is handled with the school and parents.
