A letter from our founder
Born out of both love and loss
The Okeoghene Samuel Eterigho Sickle Cell Awareness Foundation was born out of both love and loss. On December 18, 2019, I lost my beloved Okeoghene Samuel Eterigho to complications from Sickle Cell Disease. His passing was a painful reminder of the struggles faced by countless individuals and families living with this condition. Yet, from this deep loss came the resolve to transform grief into action and pain into purpose.
Established in April 2022, the foundation is my way of honouring Okeoghene's memory by ensuring that others do not have to face the same struggles alone. Through free medical outreaches, health education, advocacy, and community interventions, we are committed to raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and providing vital support to those affected by Sickle Cell Disease.
Our journey so far has taken free medical care, education, and hope to students, families and communities across Lagos and Delta State. But this is only the beginning. The road ahead calls for stronger partnerships, greater awareness, and deeper compassion. Together, we can build a society where knowledge empowers, healthcare is accessible, and no one has to suffer in silence.
This foundation is more than an organization; it is a legacy of love, hope, and resilience. I invite you to join us in this mission: to educate, support, and inspire. With your partnership, we can create a future of dignity and triumph for every warrior and family touched by Sickle Cell Disease.
With gratitude,
Mrs Erezi Joice EterighoFounder, Okeoghene Samuel Eterigho Sickle Cell Awareness Foundation
